Process Engineer


Brief Summary:

The CNC Process Engineer will design, develop and measure high precision products. He/she will have overall responsibility for managing projects, provide technical leadership for the manufacturing teams, trouble shoot and write reports.


  • Interprets and evaluates optical component drawings and determines best processes and methods needed to meet drawing specifications
  • Programs tool paths for the CNC machining equipment to shape optical materials with precise dimensions
  • Able to develop various types of metrology and/or run automated CNC machines to generate and polish a variety of materials to the specified specifications
  • Work with aspheric optical surfaces, including an understanding of sag calculations, aspheric departure, wedge, and de-centre
  • Troubleshoot radius, irregularity and surface requirements
  • Participates in process development efforts that expand capabilities, increase yield, and improve cycle time
  • Coaches and trains CNC technicians in optics machining techniques, fabrication methods, and CNC programming
  • Familiar with six sigma and SAP system


  • Degree in Mechanical/Physics/Optical Manufacturing Engineering from a recognised university
  • Minimum 2-3 years relevant manufacturing/industrial experience in set-up/operation of CNC machines is required
  • Understanding of technical drawing and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance)
  • Experience with alignment and metrology
  • Team player with good analytical and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
