Information and Directions
Use this simple tool to determine the best imaging lens for a given Horizontal Field of View (HFOV), Working Distance (WD), and Sensor Size. All compatible lenses are C-Mount (1" in diameter, 32 TPI, 17.526mm flange-focal distance).
Horizontal Field of View (HFOV): The maximum object size that fits onto the horizontal of the camera's sensor chip (the vertical size is typically 75% of the horizontal).
Working Distance (WD): The physical distance from the front of the imaging lens to the object being measured.
Sensor Size: The size of the sensor used in the C-Mount camera. Conventionally, sizes adhere to a standard 4/3" format.
Compatible Imaging Lenses: If there are close matches to your HFOV and WD parameters, then the Imaging Lens Selector displays all imaging lenses that meet this criteria. By default, the tool sorts all imaging lenses by HFOV, listing the closest matches first. If WD is more important, then select the "WD" button and the lenses will be resorted according to that parameter. If there are no close matches, then all imaging lenses that meet the HFOV will be displayed with the corresponding WD needed to achieve this HFOV.
