Polarizers Review

Polarizers are used in a wide range of imaging and research and development applications. Polarizers can be used to filter, modify, or analyze the polarization states of light in an optical system. (7.5s) Polarizers can be used to measure changes in magnetic fields, temperature, molecular structure, chemical interactions, and acoustic vibrations. Polarizers can be utilized in imaging applications to reduce glare and hot spots, enhance contrast, and perform stress evaluation. Linear polarizing filters will transmit a single axis of polarization only. (1.1s) Birefringent materials such as calcite, quartz, and magnesium fluoride are used to alter the polarization state of the incident light. (5.8s)
