Brief Summary
Plan, design and oversee overall manufacturing processes. Review new products’ (First Article - FA) manufacturability with R&D group. Incorporate new machinery/equipment to suit production line. Drive cross-department engineering projects related to production yield, quality and processes.
Job Description
- Manage and coordinate FA projects together with the Program Manager. Ensure projects meet the expected lead time.
- Design tooling for FA production to transition towards serial manufacturing process. Ensure that all tooling is available on time.
- Generate, maintain and update technical drawings, process plans and SAP routers through internal/external change processes.
- Verify and review old processes, tooling designs and product quality after the FA manufacturing run. Responsible for the Post Mortem Process (PMP).
- Maintain and stabilize past manufacturing processes and assists the production team for any engineering related issues to improving product flow and balancing production lines.
- Assist in quotation of FA by providing estimates on yield, tooling cost & process time.
- Analyze, document, resolve, recommend and implement process and product design changes.
- Contribute to continuous process improvements projects (yield/defect, cycle time, cost).
- Assist in the transfer of established processes & technology from/to other manufacturing plants.
- Being open to travel regularly between Singapore and Malaysia plants is preferred.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Industrial, Mechanical or Materials Science Engineering and/or related engineering disciplines.
- Must have about at least 3-year engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
Skills and Abilities Required
- Proficient in the use of statistical tools for analysis of process capability.
- Proficient in the use of AutoCAD/Solidworks as well as basic Microsoft Excel & Powerpoint.
- Excellent verbal and written communications. Strong experience in project management.
- Must be able to interpret blueprints in accordance with industry standards such as ISO, AS, ASME/ANSI.
- Must be familiar with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles and applications which are in accordance with standards such as ASME Y14.5-2009
- Highly adaptable to working in cross-functional and cross-cultural teams.
This role requires expertise in both optical components and metal assemblies, ensuring that the final product meets the highest standards of quality and reliability.
